Lee Bloemendal, MD FACS

Lee Bloemendal, MD, FACS is an alumnus of the University of Minnesota where he graduated in 1965. He then pursued his medical career at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, earning his MD in 1969. He completed his rotation at the University of Colorado Denver from 1970-1974. Dr. Bloemendal served as general and vascular surgeon and Major in the United States Air Force at March Air Force Base in California from 1974-1976 and was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1975. He received a vascular surgery fellowship from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles between 1976 and 1977. He and became a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1980. He served the rest of his 41 year career specializing in General and Vascular Surgery in his private practice in Fort Worth.

 

Active in the local community, Dr. Bloemendal was the chairman of the administrative board for the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth in 1994. Years later, he served as the chairman of the board of trustees for the Harris Methodist Health System from 1005-2008, a trustee of Texas Health Resources from 2011 to 2019 and president of the First Methodist Church of Fort Worth Foundation from 2017-2019. Dr. Bloemendal was president of Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society from 1983-1984, the Fort Worth Surgical Society in 1994 and the Texas Surgical Society in 2016. He also maintains involvement with the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association and the Tarrant County Medical Society. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Bloemendal was honored by Texas Doctors on its list of Texas Super Doctors from 2005 to 2008. Moreover, he was selected for including in the first edition of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the 23rd edition of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, the 72nd edition of Who’s Who in America, as well as 8th and 9th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
